Cubis® III High-Capacity Micro Balance

Cubis® III high-capacity micro balances are available with maximum weighing capacities from 22 g to 111 g and readabilities from 1 µg to 2 µg, making them suitable for precise weighing of small sample quantities, even when larger tare vessels are used. They are equipped with a glass draft shield with learning capability, a licensable ionizer, and motors for automatic draft shield operation, ensuring a stable and reliable weighing process. Integrated motion sensors enable touch-free operation, further reducing the risk of contamination and user influence on the measurement result. These balances are particularly suitable for weighing small sample quantities into large tare vessels, preparing reference standards, and developing formulations and recipes.

Cubis® III high-capacity micro balances are designed for laboratories that require microgram-level precision without compromising on weighing capacity. In situations where small sample quantities need to be weighed in large or heavy vessels — such as 125 mL or 250 mL flasks, bottles, process vessels, or dense metal components — these balances provide the ideal combination of high resolution and robust weighing performance.

With readabilities ranging from 0.001 to 0.002 mg and a significantly increased maximum capacity, Cubis® III high-capacity micro balances bridge the gap between classic analytical balances and conventional microbalances. They enable users to weigh high-tare vessels while precisely determining very small net sample quantities. This is particularly valuable in pharmaceutical and biotechnology laboratories, where APIs, reference standards, or high-value reagents are often dosed into large volumetric flasks or media containers, as well as in chemical and materials science laboratories working with heavier components and assemblies.

The weighing system, based on high-performance monolithic technology, delivers excellent repeatability and long-term stability, even when operating close to the upper capacity range. Intelligent compensation and high-quality mechanical design help reduce the influence of temperature changes, air currents, and vibrations. As a result, users can rely on consistent results, whether they are preparing reference solutions, performing gravimetric filtrations with bulky filter holders, or determining mass changes in heavier samples during drying and decomposition studies.

Cubis® III high-capacity micro balances are developed with a strong focus on data integrity and regulatory compliance. Comprehensive user management, audit trail, and electronic documentation functions support operation in regulated environments, including laboratories working in accordance with GMP, GLP, and 21 CFR Part 11 requirements. Connectivity options, such as Ethernet and USB interfaces, enable easy integration into laboratory information systems and digital data workflows, reducing the need for manual data transcription and minimizing the risk of errors.

The balances can be configured with a range of accessories tailored to large or awkward sample vessels: spacious draft shields with generous access, specialized sample holders and weighing pans, a licensable built-in ionizer to reduce electrostatic charge, and interfaces for integration into LIMS, ELN, or MES systems. Together, these features help optimize workflows such as formulation development, buffer and media preparation, gravimetric preparation of reference solutions, and in-process control weighing.

In daily use, Cubis® III high-capacity micro balances combine ease of handling with uncompromising performance. They allow laboratories to standardize work on a single high-precision platform for both small and large samples, improving efficiency while maintaining the highest standards of accuracy, traceability, and regulatory compliance.
