Frontier® Perchloric Acid

Esco Frontier^® Perchloric Fume Hood (EFP) is a ducted fume hood designed for routine handling of hot perchloric acid and hot nitric acid. However, it is not advisable for applications involving sulphuric acid, acetic acid, organic solvents or any combustible materials.

When heated, perchloric acid vaporizes and condenses to form metallic perchlorates on hood, duct, and fan components. In addition to being highly corrosive, condensed vapors can react with hood gaskets, greaser, and collected materials to form explosive perchlorate salts.

EFP has a built-in wash down system that removes salts that may have accumulated in the hood’s corners and baffle system through a series of water sprays. For added safety, Esco Fume scrubber is a required accessory used to prevent the formation of perchlorate salts in the hood’s exhaust system.
