Suppository Penetration Tester PM 30

ERWEKA’s range of suppository testers provide reliable solutions for testing critical parameters such as comminution, hardness, melting point and penetration of suppositories. Our testers are designed to ensure that pharmaceutical manufacturers have the tools they need to guarantee the quality and consistency of suppositories.

The ERWEKA PM 30 measures the softening time of suppositories. Suppositories must disintegrate, dissolve or melt at body temperature in order for their active ingredients to be released into the body. ERWEKA offers a version for EP method A and method B.

The PM 30 penetration tester (“Apparatus A” according to EP) and the PM 3 (“Apparatus B” according to EP) have been developed to carry out reproducible measurements of the softening time of suppositories at specified temperatures. The design of the test device makes visual observation of the melting characteristics extremely easy. The device consists of three test stations.
